Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal and his Cabinet colleagues have welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court on ‘triple talaq’, and said that this historic decision would give right to equality to Muslim women.

The lone woman Minister in Haryana Cabinet, Kavita Jain, who is holding Women and Child Development portfolio, expressed happiness over the Supreme

Court’s verdict on triple talaq and said that declaring triple talaq as unconstitutional would give social independence to the Muslim women.

She said this decision would turn out to be the biggest step towards ensuring support of women in development of the nation. She also congratulated those Muslim women who took up this issue at national level.

Jain said that the way the decision to demonetise high-value currency notes paved way for economic independence, this decision would ensure social honour to Muslim women and their children throughout the country.

She further said that the triple talaq had been the biggest barrier for Muslim women to showcase their potential in society, family and at workplace.

The constitution of the country and all religions grant right to equality to all citizens. However, Muslim women were facing various difficulties due to triple talaq, the Minister said.

This decision would become the foundation to abolish various other impractical decisions in future, she added.
