Haryana Chief Secretary gets extension of 6 months

Two days before retirement, Haryana chief secretary P K Chaudhary on Friday got an extension of another six months in service. Chaudhary was given an extension by the Centre after the recommendation of the State Government. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda shares a good equation with the Chief Secretary which prompted him to recommend an extension.

There were several contenders for the top job in the bureaucracy of Haryana. These included RS Gujral, an IAS of 1976 batch, senior most in the State and at present posted as Finance Secretary. He doesn’t want to come back to Haryana. Another senior officer is Krishan Mohan of 1977 batch. He will retire in September this year. SC Chaudhary, who is also of 1977 batch will retire in April next year. Sanjay Kothari of 1978 batch is also working as secretary in Government of India and is said to be reluctant in coming back to his parent cadre. Apart from the chief secretary, another senior IAS Chhatar Singh got an extension of three months. He retired on March 31 as Principal Secretary to the chief minister, and was re employed on the same same post for three months. His tenure was ending on June 30. But now with the fresh extension, he he will get three more months.
