The Cabinet on Tuesday approved amendment in Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1988 for making special provisions for prisoners other than hardcore prisoners.

Earlier, such a provision was not available to the convicted prisoners other than the hardcore prisoners in sub section 5A in the Act. However, now the Act has been amended to insert sub section 5B so as to remove this anomaly, the spokesman added.
