Haryana Cabinet reshuffle likely

Published on:

After the Cabinet expansion-cum-reshuffle at the Centre, the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana is also likely to go for a Cabinet reshuffle. A major Cabinet reshuffle seems likely ahead of the completion of two years of the BJP Government in October in the State.

The State is also entering its golden jubilee year on November 1, for which the State Government has chalked out major announcements.

Talks of a rejig in the Haryana Cabinet has been doing the rounds following BJP’s Government failure to deal with Jat quota agitation earlier this year in the state.

Sources said that after the expansion of Maharashtra cabinet, the BJP central leadership is keen on making changes in the Haryana Cabinet to put party’s flagging reform agenda back on track in the state. The BJP top brass and RSS leaders are already evaluating the performance of Ministers in the State.

The party top brass is taking the feedback of the ministers and MlAs and also reviewing the progress of flagship programmes, announcements made in the state during the BJP’s tenure.

The Chief Minister had expanded his Cabinet by inducting three more ministers during July last. The BJP came to power in Haryana for the first time after winning 47 seats in the 90-member assembly in the polls held in October 2014.

At present, the State Government is busy in appointing chairperson of various Boards, Corporations and Academies in the state. Over the years, these organizations have become a parking place for the ruling party’s favourites as their directors, deputy chairman and members.

Meanwhile, amid the speculations of a possible Cabinet reshuffle in Haryana, the opposition has intensified its attack on the ruling party.

leader of opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Chautala on Friday said that in case of cabinet reshuffle on the basis of performance, all cabinet ministers would have to be changed as the State Government has failed on every front so far. On the other hand, Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar said that it is a welcome step if the BJP is considering cabinet reshuffle on the basis of performance in Haryana.

So far, the performance of BJP’s Ministers has remained zero, he added.
