The much-awaited Budget Session of Haryana Assembly will commence from March 14, the State Cabinet decided on Thursday.
The session assumes more significance this year as the State Government has promised to bring in a Bill to give reservation to Jats following the nine-day-long agitation by the community in Haryana.
With the State suffering losses worth crores during the nine-day-long Jat stir, the BJP's announcement to bring in a Bill in the State Assembly was seen as the last resort to restore law and order in Haryana.
The State Government has already initiated the process to draft a Bill in this regard though it is yet to be seen how the Manohar lal Khattar Government would ensure reservation to the community outside the OBC quota, as demanded by several BJP MlAs and MPs.
"The Budget Session of the State Assembly will commence from March 14," Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ram Bilas Sharma told reporters.
He added that all MlAs would be given adequate time to put forth the problems and demands of the people
of their respective constituencies.
Asked about the number of sittings of the House during the Budget Session, he said that it would be finalized by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
The date for presentation of the Budget would be fixed during the first sitting of the Vidhan Sabha.
On the draft of the Bill on Jat reservation to be presented in the Vidhan Sabha, Sharma said that a five-member committee had been constituted under the chairmanship of Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, to examine this issue and the State Government would follow their directions to draft the Bill.
Meanwhile, State Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said that the State MlAs should be consulted before finalising the Bill regarding Jat reservation. The Committee should take suggestions from State MlAs on the issue of Jat reservation, he added.
