Amid the political hullabaloo over the eviction notices sent to Gwal Pahari residents in Gurugram, the ruling BJP on Friday hit out at the Congress for allegedly creating a controversy out of this sensitive issue.
Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala said that taking cognisance of the controversy that had arisen over Gwal Pahari land, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal has directed the officers of Gurugram Municipal Corporation to appeal to the Divisional Commissioner, who had imposed stay, resulting in the land remaining with the Municipal Corporation.
lashing out at the Congress, he said that the previous Congress regime was a Government of property dealers and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was the expert on land scams. Hooda and other leaders of the Congress, which has been associated with scams to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, should evaluate their own misdeeds instead of pointing fingers at others, said he.
Hooda had earlier slammed the ruling BJP for sending eviction notices to the Gwal Pahari residents. BJP MlA from Gurugram, Umesh Aggarwal had a few days ago also written a letter to the Chief Minister on the Gwal Pahari land issue urging him to ensure that residents are not displaced.
Reacting to the statement of Hooda regarding Gwal Pahari, Subhash Barala said that the present State Government is a sensitive Government.
He said that the 10-year tenure of the Congress in the state was number one in terms of corruption and scams. MHooda never came forward to issue clarification over his Government, which filled the coffers of its favoured persons with the hard-earned money of the people of the State, alleged Haryana BJP chief.
Barala said that the leaders of the Congress were so lost in their greed of power that their direct and indirect roles in dozens of scams are being revealed. All facts, including cases such as Robert Vadra-DlF land deal, allotment of plot at prime location in Panchkula to Associated Journals limited in 2005, and release of one bigha seven biswa land to Shiv Das Mal Kalra in violation of court orders, are clear before the people, he said.
He added that the ploys adopted to sell the valuable land of farmers to builders for peanuts had brought the farmers to the brink of destruction.
Notably, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has sent over 200 notices to Gwal Pahari residents so far and has planned to start taking action from February 16 against Gwal Pahari residents, who received eviction notices.
The MCG has claimed that 464 acres of land that was being illegally encroached upon falls under its jurisdiction. Situated in the foothills of Aravalli, Gwal Pahari comes under Gurgaon district and is surrounded by New Delhi and Faridabad borders.
