Haryana Roadways Union has announced a Statewide “chakka jam” on Tuesday against the State Government for granting permits to private operators.
The roadways buses would stop plying from Monday midnight and the protest is likely to continue for 24 hours.
Haryana Roadways employees had given a one-day ultimatum to the Haryana Government to stop issuing permits to private bus operators and prohibit entry of private buses into depots. However, with the Government failing to give any assurance to the roadways union, a call to hold ‘chakka jam’ across the State is being given for June 13.
Haryana roadways unions had earlier also protested for four days over issuance of permits to private operators in the State.
The commuters had faced a tough time after the public transport did not ply on their regular routes for four days in April while the Government had suffered a loss of Rs4 crore per day due to the strike in the State.
