Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Harsimrat Badal on Monday called upon the society to consider son and daughter “equal” in every aspect and give women equal rights.
Harsimrat, during a function held to distribute life insurance policies and boota prasad gift to the women associated with Nanhi Chhan project, said that as a woman, she has always envisioned equal rights for the females.
“We should love and respect daughters. Any kind of discrimination before or after birth of a baby girl is a crime,” she said.
Batting for a cleaner and greener environment, she called upon the women to plant saplings they were being gifted to keep earth clean and green. “In today’s world, the main reason behind increasing health problems is thinning out green cover and lack of fresh air. Women can contribute better towards maintaining green environment as a mother they knew what nurturing meant,” she said.

As an elder sister, she paid the premium of all the beneficiaries, who are associated with Nanhi Chhan Foundation project, from her salary enabling them to live a secure life.
