Dissident Congress MP from Gurgaon, Rao Inderjit Singh is going to attend the Indian National lok Dal’s ‘Samman Divas Samaroh’ rally to be held at Kurkushetra on November 1.
“Rao Inderjit Singh has formally accepted the invitation of Abhay Singh Chautala, who met him at his residence in Delhi. The Gurgaon MP has decided to attend the rally alongwith other office bearers of the Manch”, said Gl Sharma, spokesperson of newly formed non political outfit, Haryana Vikas Manch.
A day after Congress high command removed three of Rao’s loyalist from the post of district Congress Committee presidents; his decision to join the rally has raised many eyebrows. However, Rao has made it clear that he is only attending the function and is not joining INlD.
Clarifying Rao’s stance, Sharma said, “Our party leader is attending the rally only and it should not be interpreted as his membership with INlD. Chaudhary Devi lal was a leader of farmers, hence we all respect him.”
After Rao’s announcement of not contesting lok Sabha elections on Congress ticket, it was being assumed that Rao will soon announce his decision of joining BJP. The speculation were ripened after Rajnath Singh, praised the Gurgaon MP during his recent visit to Chandigarh.
But after Rao accepted INlD’s invitation, it has raised several questions over the future political scenario and it seems that Rao is keeping his cards intact for the suitable time. His decision to attend the INlD rally has changed the political equations in Haryana as of now, especially at a time when parliamentary and assembly elections are near.
When asked about the party’s possible poll alliance, Sharma said that all the alternatives are open and Manch’s decision will come when the time is right.
Political parties are shying away from taking any decision to avoid any risk in the future. They are clinging to their own cadre and trying to display their strength to each other for negotiation over seats after getting each other’s support at the right time for possible poll alliances.
When contacted, state Congress president Phool Chand Mullana said that he has no knowledge about the fact that Rao is going for the INlD’s rally.
