On the occasion of International Women’s Day on Sunday, Gurgaon district administration in collaboration with private partners took a series of initiatives to ensure safety and security of women in Gurgaon. Deputy Commissioner, Tl Satya Parkash signed two MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) with five different private players of Gurgaon city. One quadruplicate MoU was signed for introducing ‘Women Only Cabs’ and the other MoU was for launching ‘Mobile Safety App’. The third initiative was formation of a new cadre of Gurgaon Youth Volunteers, wherein the nursing students were the first to join.
SatyaParkash said that the nursing students, who are first to join the cadre of Gurgaon Youth Volunteers, would render their services starting from the maternity ward. This would be celebration of motherhood and when the new born would come, there would be someone to welcome him or her in this world. He said that the incidents of lactating mothers delivering in the toilets or somewhere at unhygienic places occur because we have less number of gynecologists or staff nurses, so we would have more working hands in the shape of nursing students as youth volunteers.
These nursing students would help in conducting safe deliveries and welcome the new born in this world in a safe and hygienic environment. This is one way of repositioning entire maternity services by involving the volunteers, said the DC. Earlier, for introducing women only cabs in Gurgaon, SatyaParkash signed MoU with Regional Manager, NCR from Maruti Suzuki Manu Inderjeet Singh, CEO of Eco Rent-a-car Rajesh loomba and co-founder of Mind Your fleet.com Malvinder Singh.
The second MoU was signed with Jarviz, which has developed a ‘Mobile SOS App’ for women safety. SatyaParkash said that the district administration is supporting the software prepared by the Jarviz company, which is based at Gurgaon. He said that in matters of women safety, we do not have margin and we should have fool proof security. If any other company prepares more efficient and cheaper software, we will support it.
