A large number of guest teachers, who are posted at Government schools across the State under the aegis of Atithi Adhyapak Sangh, on Sunday held a State-level protest in Jhajjar city and submitted a memorandum to Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal at her residence.
They are demanding regularisation of their services by embarking upon a special policy in this regard. They also served an ultimatum to the State Government for fulfilling their demand within a month; otherwise they would hold demonstration outside residences of Member of Parliaments (MPs) in the State.
Bhukkal has, however, assured the protesters of contemplating over their demands.
Earlier, guest teachers from different parts of the State gathered at Sector-6 in Jhajjar and decided to hold protest after slamming the State Government for not fulfilling their long-pending demand of regularisation of their services.
Sangh president Arul Malik said that State Government should do justice with the guest teachers by regularizing their service while keeping in view of their years-old experience of teaching.
“The State Government has recruited thousands of teachers during last seven years but is not paying any heed to their long pending demands. We have given one-month’s time to the State Government for fulfilling their demand. If the Government does not take any firm decision regarding their demand then we would not hold demonstration at residences of all MPs of Haryana,” said Malik.
He maintained that future of scores of guest teachers would ruin if the Government does not regularize them because many of them have become overage and many others have reached at that stage of their age from where they could not opt another profession to earn their livelihood.
Notably, around 15,000 guest teachers have been working in the Government schools for last over seven years.
