BJP president Rajnath Singh on Monday made it clear that the saffron party would come to power on the basis of its development agenda and not on a “negative” note against the Congress party.
Mincing no words, Rajnath Singh said that the party could not cash in on the follies of the Congress-led UPA Government, but would emerge victorious on the basis of promise of development.
Party chief maintained that the issues are many on which the party would go to crucial 2014 parliamentary polls, but the same would be assembled in the form of party’s manifesto.
“Party’s agenda for elections would be presented in the form of election manifesto. We have already constituted a committee for the same under senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi,” said Singh.
At the same time, he clarified, “BJP will not contest polls on the negatives only. Bit also on the promises what the Government would be dong after coming to power on the slew of problems confronting the country.”
He asserted that no doubt, UPA’s series of scams, corruption, inflation, poor economic situation, internal and external security are elections issues, but people also wanted to know what the next Government would do for them, what solutions it would provide for their problems.
“The party would soon come out with a vision document on what it would do for fiscal health, manufacturing sector, alcohol-temperance, inflation. Under this, the party will explain in simple terms how it intends to take the country forward, among other issues,” he said.
INDICATEs POST-POll AllIANCE
BJP president Rajnath Singh did not rule out the possibility of post-poll alliance with the parties, if required.
“As of now, there are no talks going on with any party in any State to make a pre-poll alliance. If needed be, there could be post -poll alliances too,” he said.
CENTRAl ElECTION COMMITTEE TO TAKE FINAl CAll ON TICKETS
Rajnath Singh also made it clear that BJP's Central election committee will take the final call on ticket distribution for the forthcoming lok Sabha polls.
“These things are decided by party's Central Election Committee and any individual cannot say whether he can fight from a place A or B,” Singh said responding to a query whether party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would fight lok Sabha polls from lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a State where the party is eyeing electoral gains.
NDA CHAIRMAN TO TAKE CAll ON CONVENERS’ POST
Answering to a question whether Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would be elevated as NDA convenor after JDU chief Sharad Yadav's party parted ways with the BJP and the post fell vacant, Rajnath Singh said that the decision is the prerogative of lK Advani, who is the NDA chairman.
“Only, he can give the answer. He is authorised to take the call…not I,” he said.
“NO ISSUES WITH THE SAD”
Rajnath Singh expressed satisfaction with the party’s relation with the SAD in Punjab.
“Relations between SAD and BJP are old and time-tested. It is wrong to suggest that SAD is focusing on development of rural areas to the neglect of urban areas, which served as a base for BJP,” he said.
75 per cent of India’s population lived in rural areas, thus, if the country had to progress, then rural areas and farmers would have to be developed, he added.
Stating that party would contest Delhi assembly polls in coalition with the SAD, Rajnath did not mention the number of seats it would give to its ally.
