Targeting the Opposition parties, Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that his Government will speed up the campaign against corruption and to rid the country of the corrupt.
“This ‘chowkidar’ will neither be threatened nor bow down with their (Opposition) threats and abuses,” said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing “Swachh Shakti 2019” program in Haryana’s Kurukshetra, the land famously known as the battlefield of Mahabharata.
At the event organised to recognise the leadership role played by rural women in the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Prime Minister asserted, “Our ‘safai’ campaign to rid this country of the corrupt and the dirt is going to be further accelerated.”
“For this campaign, your blessings should continue,” Modi asked the gathering which included swachagrahis from across the nation.
Continuing his tirade against the Opposition, the Prime Minister claimed that only corrupt people have a problem with him while the honest trusted this ‘chowkidar’.
Mocking the ‘mahagathbandhan’ as ‘maha-milawat’ (highly adulterated), he said that all the faces in this group are only indulging in competition in threatening and abusing him and are afraid of investigation.
“Even in Haryana, you are witnessing how some people are worried because of probe by investigating agencies,” he said without naming anyone.
Notably, there are investigations ongoing against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra for alleged irregularities in land deals in
the State.
Taking a jibe at the Congress and Gandhi family, the Prime Minister said, “Some people thought that the history of the country commenced from year 1947 and that it was started from one family. This family had cut the country from the roots of history. ”
“The present BJP Government has made the welfare of women as base of all its major schemes and programs and it has become possible only as the people of the country had given full mandate to the BJP in 2014. In 2014, you gave your votes for an honest and transparent government” he said,
On assuming the reign of the administration, middleman and those having corrupt ideology were eliminated from the system, Modi added.
On the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign, the Prime Minister said, “People from other parties made fun of me when I spoke of toilets from the ramparts of the Red Fort. I could understand the plight of the women who had to go out for defecation.”
“The taunts of those born with gold spoon do not prick me. I will continue with my efforts to make life better for women,” Modi added.
