The change of guard in the State has started showing its impact in Mahendragarh, home district of Haryana Education and Transport Minister Ram Bilas Sharma.
To boost primary education, the Minister has directed Mahendragarh District Education Officer (DEO) to initiate the process to reopen all those 21 Government primary schools in Mahendragarh district, which were closed over two years ago due to low strength of the students.Complying with the order, Mahendragarh education office has also submitted all details pertaining to these schools with its headquarter for permission, hence the schools are likely to reopen within a month.
“These 21 Government primary schools had to face closure in 2012 following Hooda Government’s policy which paved the way of closure of those primary schools where total strength of the student was less than 25. Among them, seven schools were being run in Mahendragarh, six in Ateli, five in Narnaul and three in Nangal Chaudhry block of this district,” Mahendragarh DEO Santosh Tanwar said.
She informed that students enrolled in these schools and staff members were later shifted to nearby schools.“The Education Minister, during the officers’ meeting, had directed me to reopen all these schools at the earliest by submitting a proposal to headquarter in this regard. We have sent the proposal and are hopeful about obtaining the permission to restart the schools soon,” said Tanwar.Significantly, the education department had shifted the students and staffers to nearby schools but it had left buildings of these closed schools unused hence rooms of most of the schools are locked since ever their closure.
“All Block Education Officers (BEOs) of Mahendragarh district have been asked to ensure cleanliness and all basic facilities at these schools before their reopening. Those students and teachers will be called back, who were shifted to other schools two years ago,” said the DEO.Tanwar maintained they would also make sincere efforts to enhance strength of the students in these schools. Re-opening of the schools would definitely boost the primary education in rustic area, she added.
