A day after Haryana Congress blamed the Manohar lal Khattar Government for the problems faced by the beneficiaries of old age pension, Haryana Government on Friday hit back at the opposition saying that it was during the previous regime of Congress Government when the elderly people had to run from pillar to post to get their old age pension
Reacting to the statement made by Congress leaders on the issue of old age pension, Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kavita Jain said during the regime of Congress Government, elderly people did not receive old age pension for three months.
She said during BJP regime, for the facility of pensioners, their accounts were being opened in banks so as to avoid the risk of mediators fleeing away with their pension. The last date of opening accounts of pensioners and uploading them on website has been extended to August 7. Those pensioners whose accounts are uploaded by this date, would be given arrears of pension by August 15.
The Minister said the pensioners of urban areas could upload their bank accounts on website of the department by visiting their banks with passbook. As soon as the accounts of all pensioners would be uploaded their pension would be released on time, she added.
A day back, Kiran Choudhry, leader of Haryana Congress legislature Party, had accused that snags in uploading the bank accounts of all old age pensioners have made them run from pillar to post to get their due.
The pensioners of Alakhpura, Bawani Khera, Kharak Kalan and Gujrani villages of Bhiwani district and some from Rohtak and other districts are facing problems for the last three months, the ClP leader had claimed.
