More than 3.5 lakh Haryana Government employees have given a call of a Statewide strike for 72 hours between January 21 to 23 to press for their demands under the banner of Haryana employees’ coordination committee.
The strike ahead of the lok Sabha polls, could pose a challenge to the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress Government in the State. Dharamvir Phogat, President of the Sarv Karamchari Sangh Haryana said that Haryana employees coordination committee comprising all major employees’ unions, have given the call of complete strike for 72 hours against the anti-employee policies of the State Government.
The employees are demanding regularisation of one lakh temporary employees working in different departments, boards and corporations across the State, stopping privatisation of the Government departments, outsourcing, recruitments through contract policies and Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the State and cancellation of policy regarding 3,519 proposed bus permits to the private bus operators.
This is not the first time when State Government has to face the wrath of employees for their demands. Hooda Government is facing second such Statewide strike of employees in the last nine years of its rule. Though Hooda had announced several allowances for the employees in Gohana rally last year and most of them are being implemented from January this year, yet the employees are not satisfied with these allowances.
However, Employees unions’ leaders threatened that if the State Government doesn’t pay serious attention towards their demands they can let it go till an indefinite period. “All employees have decided to go for complete strike across the State. If theState Government tried to suppress our agitation, we can convert it in to indefinite strike too”, said Davinder Singh Hooda, president of All Haryana Power Corporation Workers Union.
So far, the state government has not reacted on the proposed strike and how will it deal with it.
