Govt asks pvt varsities to go for CEE for admission

Published on:

Haryana Government has decided that all private universities in the State would make admissions to the technical courses being offered by them through centralised entrance examination (CEE) conducted by Haryana

State Technical Counselling Society.

The admissions to professional courses in medical and allied faculties in private universities would also be done centrally by Medical Education and Research Department, said  a spokesman of Higher Education Department.

The provisions enshrined in the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006 stipulates that admissions in professional and technical courses in a private university would only be made through an entrance test which would be conducted at the state level either by an association of the universities conducting similar courses or by an agency of the State.

However, the private universities have been making admissions in professional and technical courses through their own entrance test and thus flouting the statutory provisions of the Act, said the spokesman.

He said that it is also observed that some of the private universities are offering professional courses in Agriculture Science for which Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar would conduct centralized admissions test.

In addition to medical, technical and agricultural courses, private universities also offer B.Ed, law and other professional courses.  B.Ed admissions in the state are conducted by a State university authorized by the Government, said he.

The spokesman said that private universities would make admissions to B.Ed through centralized counselling to be conducted by the State University authorized by the State Government. Similarly, all admissions in laws would be made on the basis of Common law Admission Test (ClAT) examination merit.

He said that however, for the courses which are out of ambit of technical, medical education, agriculture, B.Ed and law, private universities may conduct their own entrance examination for the coming academic session i.e. this year only. From the next year, all private universities would form an association of Universities for conducting centralized entrance examination for such professional courses.

The spokesman said Vice-Chancellors of the all private universities had been asked to adhere to these instructions strictly and send seat matrix in all courses of their University by June 25.

Apart from this, they have also been asked to contact Director General, Technical Education, Director, Medical Education and Research, Director, Agriculture and Vice Chancellor of CCSHAU, Hisar for the centralized admission process, he added.
