Anguished over the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in the past few months, Golden Temple priest (ardasia) Bhai Balbir Singh on Friday refused to honour Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal with siropa (robe of honour) during the latter’s visit to the Darbar Sahib.
The same Sikh priest had earlier denied to honour Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal with siropa when he visited here in January as Punjab Government failed to curb the series of sacrilege incidents of Guru Granth Sahib in the state.
It is notable that siropa is considered to be manifestation of the blessings and a token of honour.
