Give Rs 40k per acre compensation to farmers, Seek relief package from Centre: Hooda to Hry Govt

Maintaining that agriculture has been completely ruined due to floods with farmers and farm workers being badly affected by the waterlogging, Haryana’s former Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday demanded that the BJP-JJP combine Government should give compensation of Rs 40,000 per acre to the farmers with immediate effect.

Hooda, who visited the flood-affected areas in Sirsa and Fatehabad districts, also assured the people that he would raise the problems of the affected people in the assembly.

“The damage done to houses and shops should also be compensated by the government, along with the farmers. The amount given to the families of the deceased is insufficient and it should be increased from Rs four lakh to Rs 20 lakh,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition said that the State Government should demand a relief package from the Centre. “The Congress Government of Himachal has demanded from the Union Government. The Haryana government should also not lag behind. The flood has caused havoc in the entire state and people are now expecting relief from the government,” he said.

Hooda said that the people have already suffered a lot and the Government should not show any kind of delay or carelessness, at least now. “Proper compensation should be given to all affected people with immediate effect, but the Government is once again entangling the public in web of its portal as the maximum loss due to floods has been caused to the poor and farmers, who do not know how to operate the portal,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition said that the coalition government should also pay attention to the condition of the roads, because the condition of the roads in the entire state was already very bad. “Due to the rains, roads have become even more dilapidated. Similarly, the risk of outbreak of diseases has increased after floods. Steps should be taken regarding that from now itself,” he said.
