Hari Chand Arora has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to give disability pension to them at reasonable rate, particularly females.

Comparing the condition of females with 100 per cent disability with that of acid attack victims, Arora suggested that the same amount of financial assistance, that is Rs 8,000 per month, should be given to females suffering from 100 per cent disability of both upper and lower limbs as

given to acid attack victims by the Punjab Government under its scheme.

“Under a scheme of the State Governments, the acid attack victims, whose faces have been badly damaged, are being given financial assistance at the rate of Rs 8,000 per month by Punjab and Haryana. The same gesture deserves to be extended to help out the persons suffering from 100 percent disability of both upper and lower limbs,” Arora said in a letter to the Chief Minister.

Arora said even as the State Government is paying Rs 500 monthly disability pension to those who fulfill criteria of 40 per cent disability, the 100 per cent disabled persons of upper and lower limbs deserve to be granted such disability pension at higher or reasonable rate so that the amount of pension is sufficient to meet their minimum requirements of daily life.
