With a view to digitalize the data of all departments through satellite images, a Geographic Information System (GIS) lab has been established at Jind with the assistance of District Administration and Haryana Space Application Centre.

In the first phase, the lab has started collecting data of property tax of Municipal Council, Jind. After completion of data, all details such as name of property owner, contact number, area of the property, whether the property is located in residential area or commercial area and photo of the property would be made available online.

Also, the location of property and available public facilities in the area would be easily available. Not only this, authorised and unauthorised colonies could also be identified easily through satellite.

On the same pattern, the e work would be carried out in Narwana Municipal Council, and Safidon and Julana Municipalities. With this, while buying property, people would get to know whether it is authorised on not.

Deputy Commissioner, Jind, Amit Khatri said that data of departments such as Revenue, Irrigation, Agriculture, Election, Panchayat, Police and Education was also being collected in the lab.

The data collected through use of satellite in GIS lab is safe. In future, data of all departments would be made online and common man would be able to get information online, he said.

The GIS lab has made online the public facilities available in Narwana which could be checked on http://jind.gov.in/narwana. By clicking on this link, location of public facilities such as toilets and dustbins can be seen with photo. The setting up of this lab would facilitate in estimation of actual distance to these places, he added.
