Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday said that it seemed AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Waraich alias Ghuggi was still living in a make belief world and did not know that farmers of Punjab were more than satisfied with the paddy procurement process in Punjab.
Referring to the “sham photo op exercise which AAP wants to do in mandis on Monday”, senior SAD leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal said: “You are arriving in mandis tomorrow a few days after Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh. Congress leader had to beat a hasty retreat when he learnt wherever he went each and every mound of wheat lying in the mandis had been procured.”
“Despite this, you are doing a sham exercise tomorrow to get your picture in the media and file the necessary report about the same to your masters in Delhi,” he said.
Grewal also asked Ghuggi to file an affidavit with names of farmers who had been asked to pay `100 per quintal to procure their paddy produce as claimed by him. “If you cannot do this, you better apologise to the Government functionaries whom you are defaming to score political points against the State government,” said Grewal adding that not a single complaint had been received in this regard from any farmer and Ghuggi should submit proof of his allegations or tender an unqualified apology.
Grewal also asked Ghuggi to explain his stand on the SYl canal issue when he goes amidst farmers on Monday.
