Punjab Government’s ‘Ghar Ghar Hariyali’ campaign, commenced under the ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’, aimed at creating a clean, green and robust Punjab and is evoking overwhelming response from the masses which would change the face of the state, said the state Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on Thursday.

Dharamsot, after planting saplings and its distribution at the Punjab Civil Secretariat-I with the assistance of the Punjab Civil Secretariat Staff Association, said that till now, more than 10 lakh saplings have been provided free of cost and trend is still continuing.

He said that Punjab is the first state in the country where the government has started ‘i-Hariyali’ app and the initiative has received overwhelming response from the people especially the youth. “More than 2.3 lakh families have been connected with the app whereas approximately more than six lakh saplings (total 10 lakh) have been provided free to the people,” he said.

Exhorting the people to concentrate on the proper upkeep and maintenance apart from distributing and procuring them, Dharamsot asked them to prioritize their distribution as well as plantation on special occasions such as birthdays or some other occasions.

“In the coming two days, stalls would be put up at the Punjab Civil Secretariat-I and II and 5,000 free saplings would be distributed to the government employees,” he said.
