Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday appealed to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to fulfill the remaining 15.4 percent poll promises, made to the people of Punjab, in Monday’s budget presentation itself and take “a well-deserved” rest.

SAD leader and former Minister Daljit Singh Cheema said the 15.4 percent promises which should be fulfilled on Monday, include decision to release Rs 90,000 crore to ensure a complete farm loan waiver as promised by the Chief Minister; promise of providing Rs 10 lakh compensation and a government job to all farmer suicide victim families; immediately disburse Rs 2,500 per month unemployment allowance promised to youth along with four years arrears and appointment letters to one unemployed youth in each household.

“Similarly, the promised enhanced old age pension of Rs 2,500 per month should also be released along with arrears to all the beneficiaries. Promised Shagun benefits of Rs 51,000 should also be released to all eligible beneficiaries in a similar fashion. Contractual State Government employees should be regularized tomorrow and the sixth Pay Commission report should be finalized and implemented,” he added.

Cheema said that SAD is hopeful that all these remaining 15.4 percent promises would be fulfilled in the budget so that the Chief Minister could be honoured appropriately and advised to take much-needed rest after doing 100 percent work one year before completion of his term.
