Former CM Hooda challenges Manohar lal for open debate

Accusing the BJP led Haryana Government of telling “lies”, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday challenged Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar for an open debate on developmental works in the State.

“Haryana had witnessed “unprecedented” development during the ten years of the Congress’ rule whereas the current Khattar Government is only building castles in the air,” said senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda while talking to the mediapersons here.

Alleging that the BJP Government was taking Haryana “backwards”, Hooda said they (BJP) believed in telling lies and adopting the divide and rule policy.

let them tell what steps they have taken for the welfare of the public. I challenge the Chief Minister for an open debate, said Hooda.

Hitting back at CM Manohar lal over his “potholes” remark recently, the two-time former CM said, “It is them (BJP) who are taking the State backward. Haryana’s debt has crossed Rs 1.4 lakh crore. There are no jobs, no development is taking place, but the Government is in a mood of celebration of completion of its 1,000 days rules.”

The BJP Government in Haryana had completed its 1,000 days in office on July 21 and Manohar lal had on the occasion listed several developmental initiatives of his government. Manohar lal had also hit out at the previous Hooda led Congress Government saying that the previous Government had left many “potholes” for the present dispensation to fill.

lashing out at BJP Government, Hooda said, “This government is only building castles in the air and giving hollow slogans.

“The State Government talks about zero tolerance towards corruption. I say people of Haryana have zero tolerance towards this Government and will throw them out in the next elections,” he claimed.

Continuing his tirade, Hooda said the BJP Government was talking about giving round-the-clock power supply to villages, while they have not been able to do so in the cities. On the other hand, they have increased the power tariff, he added.

Hooda also said the per capita income in Haryana increased from Rs 37,000 in 2005 to Rs 1.48 lakh in 2014 under the Congress Government. However, it went down to around Rs 1.35 lakh last year under the BJP Government, said the former CM.

Commenting on information tabled in lok Sabha that 22 civilians lost their lives in incidents of firing by the Haryana Police in 2016, Hooda said it is shameful for the state.

The senior Congress leader added that his party is ready for the polls to be held in 2019.
