Farmers from across Haryana will hold a protest march on Friday demanding fulfilment of their demands including compensation from insurance companies for damage of crops due to fire incidents.
The farmers under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKUl) would gather near Nada Sahib Gurudwara and then march towards Chandigarh to meet Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal and submit a memorandum to him.
Haryana BKU president Gurnam Singh Chaduni, while talking to The Pioneer said that the farmers will hold a protest march seeking fulfilment of three demands. These include compensation from insurance companies for damage to crops due to fire incidents, procurement of maize crop by the government, a policy so that banks do not keep huge security for giving loans to the farmers.
The land value kept as bank guarantee should not be more than double the loan taken by the farmers. At present, the banks are keeping huge security for giving loans to the farmers, said Chaduni.
More than 1000 farmers from across Haryana would converge at Nada Sahib on Friday to hold the protest march, said he.
He added that apart from these three demands, the BKU will also demand the implementation of Swaminanthan report as promised by the BJP in its election manifesto.
