In a humanitarian gesture, 89 family members and dependents of deceased former employees of the Punjab Education Department were inducted into the education system under various appointments here on Saturday.

In a ceremony held at Punjab School Education Board Auditorium Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister welcomed the new appointees and offered his support with a personal interaction with several new entrants. This move by the government aimed at providing some relief and consolation to those who had lost a near & dear one during their time as an active employee in the Punjab education system.

Cheema distributed the appointment letters to the dependents of the deceased. Amongst those inducted, 20 have been appointed as clerks, 53 as senior lab attendants (SlA’s), 2 as Masters, 1 as PTI, 2 Art and Craft teachers, 2 as library restorers (lR’s) and 9 as Class IV.

In addition to the appointments offered on compassionate grounds, Cheema went a step ahead by sanctioning on-demand posting allotments as per the personal preferences of the appointees. He issued strict instructions to ensure that all such pending cases be resolved within one month and all dependents of deceased employees seeking active employment be given appointment letters immediately.

He was made aware of the fact the some had to fight for their right for employment and wait for 2-3 years to get the job. He exhorted all  appointees to work with sincerity and dedication. He said that “we understood that you had to join the jobs due to pressing circumstances of your families, even then we are hopeful that you will continue achieving higher education along with discharging professional duties”.
