Eye on lS polls, Sukhbir offers special industrial package to adjoining States

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday said that the Congress-led UPA Government has extended the special industrial package to adjoining States with an eye on the ensuing lok Sabha elections.

Taking the State Congress leadership to task, he pointed out that they never dared to take up the issues of State’s interest with their party high command and the recent extension of industrial package to Congress-ruled hilly States — Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand — was a violation of country’s federal structure.

Sukhbir, interacting with media persons after installation of Barjinder Singh Brar as Punjab Health Systems Corporation chairman, said that Punjab Congress leaders have limited themselves to beg before high command only for party posts and never bothered to raise any genuine demand right of the State.

“The anti-people policies of Congress-led UPA Government have taken the country to the brink of economic disaster resulting in ever increasing unemployment and roof piercing inflation. People has already made up their mind to bring back the NDA Government,” he added.

Rubbishing the Congress’ demand for CBI inquiry into drug seizures, Sukhbir said that the State Congress president was making this demand to derail the ongoing campaign of Punjab Police against drug mafia and we would not let their nefarious designs to succeed.
