With eyes set on 2014 general election, BJP is likely to go soft on rebels who worked against party’s interest in Assembly elections. A decision is likely to be taken in the Core Committee meet of the party to be held at Palampur early next month.

Despite the tough disciplinary committee recommendations, BJP has put the action on rebels on hold and is scheduled to take a decision in this regard at the Core Committee meet starting from August 2 to August 4, in the presence of party’s national president Rajnath Singh and State incharge Balbir Punj. A training camp for party workers will also be held during the meet in which strategy for 2014 general elections will be chalked out and formulated. “Some of the rebels, who worked against the party line in Assembly elections, have worked with the party during Mandi by-poll without in pre-conditions and thus we will be considering all these aspects in Core Committee meet,” said State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti.

He added that several leaders of the party who got involved in anti-party activities in Assembly elections have come in contact of the party and want to work for the party. “We will be taking every aspect into consideration as our top priority now is 2014 general election,” added Satti. Ganesh Dutt, chief of disciplinary committee of the party, said although his committee has completed all the proceedings but final decision rests with the Core Committee of the party and all aspects will be seen before arriving at conclusion. “Several central leaders will participate in the meeting but till now programmes of national president Rajnath Singh and Balbir Punj only has been finalised. Singh will be addressing the inaugural session of the meet,” said Dutt. Sources said that JP Nadda and Shanta Kumar will also be present in the meet as both are from the State and efforts are on to call deputy leader of Opposition Ravi Shanker Prasad and party spokesperson Rajeev Pratap Rudy.
