Exclusive Sangat Darshans for Punjabi NRIs in Dec, Jan

Punjab Government came forward for the cause of Punjabi NRIs at the time when the Opposition is targeting it for calling off its annual event  — NRI sammellan — owing to its failure to fulfill its previous promises.

Coming to Government’s defence, Singh said that ‘NRI Sangat Darshan Samellans’ will be organised at ludhiana, Jalandhar and Moga on the demand of NRIs in December and January. “Chief Minister will preside over the Samellans to redress their grievances on the spot,” said Singh.

He said that he had recently visited Canada and United Kingdom where Punjabi Diaspora extended unprecedented gratitude to the SAD-BJP combine for fulfilling their aspirations and demands.

“On their demand, we have decided to launch exclusive Sangat Darshan program for Punjabi emigrants where all concerned officers from police, revenue, power and other civil administration would remain present to redress their grievances on the spot,” said the Minister.

Former Finance Minister and People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Badal had alleged that the state government’s decision to do away with annual NRI sammellans show their bankruptcy to face global Punjabis in the wake of the utter failure to keep up any of the promises made during these earlier functions.

Accusing Manpreet for trying to garner people’s attention on the basis of “false, ridiculous and unfortunate statements”, he said that Manpreet should look into his own internal state of feelings on the issue since he was the real traitor who betrayed and befooled Punjabi Diaspora on the basis of false and baseless propaganda.

lambasting at Manpreet, the Minister said that Punjab Government have fulfilled most of the promises including establishment of 15 separate police stations for NRIs, separate civil court at Jalandhar, 10 percent reservation in industrial and residential plots, among many other things.
