Ex-MP Jai Prakash exits Congress

Published on:

The Congress got a big jolt on Wednesday as its stalwart from Kalayat and former three time MP, Jai Prakash announced to contest the polls as an Independent candidate.

The party has apparently denied him ticket from Kalayat Assembly constituency. The former Union Minister alleged that Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had played key role in denial of ticket to him for Cabinet Minister Randeep Surjewala’s supporter Ranbir Mann, son of former MlA Teji Singh Mann from Kalayat. Jai Prakash, who originally belongs to Dubbal village in Kaithal had contested against Surjewala on Narwana Assembly seat in 1996 on the Haryana Vikas Party ticket, but had lost by merely 400 votes.

His supporters say that their leader has pockets of influence in 12 assembly constituencies from Nalwa to Ambala, where he would oppose the Congress.
