Estate office warns against violation of building bylaws

The UT Estate office is all set to take strict action against owners of private buildings violating building bylaws. Directions have been issued to the residents not to violate the building bylaws.

An official spokesperson said that UT residents are advised not to violate the building bylaws or misuse the buildings to avoid high penalty and harassment.

Regarding misuse and building violation cases, the owners/occupiers are required to submit in writing that they have removed the building violation/misuse of the building immediately after the receipt of show cause notice from the Estate Officer or there was no misuse or building violation as stated in the notice, so that it may be verified by the office and the notice can be dropped. “In non-receipt of such response, it will be presumed that building violation/misuse continues and penalty till its removal will be charged,” he added.

In the past, the Estate office had sealed several private properties, including SCOs and  restaurants.  The spokesperson added, from now all applicants for revised building plan and other works in the Estate Office are required to give their mobile numbers and e-mail ID so that they may be informed regarding the status of their work.
