Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday asked the officials to ensure employment for everyone in the State so that people can live a respectable life.   Addressing people during various Sangat Darshan programmes held in the villages of Talwandi Sabo Assembly segment of Bathinda district, Badal said the basic aim was to ensure economic independence for every individual.

He said that the Government’s programme to generate more employment opportunities would make the initiative a success. “To attain the set target, the state government has taken initiatives to put an end to unemployment as well as impart skill development through multi-pronged program. Youths were being imparted training in skill development at different centres across the state so as to enable them to face challenges in today’s age of emerging technologies and innovations,” he said.

laying emphasis on ushering in better transparency, he said that the grants and other money received by the village panchayats should be displayed in public domain on boards installed in panchayat ghar or any other public place. He added that the information about blue card holders (beneficiaries of Atta-Dal Scheme) must be publicly put up on the boards outside their dwelling units to have fair knowledge about the credentials of the beneficiaries.

Badal said that this would not only ensure transparency in the day-to-day life but would also weed out bogus beneficiaries.  He directed the officials to conduct a detailed and fair survey of blue card holders, pensioners, toilets and kuchha houses within a month. The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure that every person, who fulfils eligibility criteria, was issued blue card and the non-deserving people do not get any such benefit.

He directed the officials to adopt comprehensive strategy for collecting this data and any kind of lackadaisical attitude in tabulating this data would be dealt severely. The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on providing cemented drains, construction of toilets, replacing  kuchha houses with permanent ones, providing dharamsalas for the Dalit brethren within a given timeframe.
