Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Wednesday suspended the Principal and Block Education Officer on finding many irregularities during his surprise visit at Government High School, Sector-17, Panchkula.

The Education Minister inspected the toilets, cleanliness and other arrangements at the school. He said Government school teachers are paid double the salary as compared to teachers of private schools but in the past ten years, the students have developed this perception that private schools offer better arrangements and facilities than Government schools.

Sharma said Government schools have teachers of high capability and this perception about Government schools needs to be changed which is only possible when school teachers make improvements in school arrangements through their hard work. He said the school teachers were not even aware of the total strength of students in the school. On finding many irregularities during his visit to the school, the Education Minister directed the District Education Officer to seek explanation from other staff members of the school.

Sharma visited various classrooms and asked questions from students. During his interaction with students, he inquired if any teacher threatens and scares them or they have any kind of fear from anyone. Besides inspecting the computer room, he also inspected the quality of mid- day meal being served to the students.
