There’s no denying the fact that people have great enthusiasm for 2014 general elections. For those who don’t believe, sample this: a 91-year-old Dilip Chand Jain, resident of Mohali’s phase IX, reached his nearest polling station with his son and daughter-in-law to get his voter ID card made. The Election Commission, across the country, has organised special camp on Sunday to verify inclusion of elector’s names in electoral rolls and to get the cards prepared. Is that is not enough, many senior citizens, some of whom had never prepared their voter card, and some whose vote has been cancelled owing to wrong information, reached their nearest polling booths on Sunday.
BJP Campaigning Committee holds meet
lok Sabha Election Campaigning Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab unit on Sunday held its meeting under the chairmanship of party’s national general secretary and MP JP Nadda. It was decided in the meeting that the party cadre would work in contact with the people to ensure victory of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “After SAD-BJP’s Fateh Rally at Jagraon, Modi wave is blowing across the state, and his victory is certain. The party would work to win all 13 seats to make Modi as our prime minister,” said Nadda while addressing the meeting. He also maintained that considering Modi’s stature, senior leaders from many political parties are coming to BJP fold, hinting at the defection by the Congress lok Sabha candidate Dr Bhagirath Prasad, who joined BJP a day after the party announced his candidature from Bhind constituency in MP.

‘Chandigarh residents seek respite from Cong misrule’
Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon on Sunday said that the lok Sabha Elections-2014 will not be a competition between the BJP and Congress, but between 15 years of Congress misrule and the common man who are bearing the brunt of inflation, unemployment, poor growth and rampant corruption. The sitting Congress MP, Pawan Kumar Bansal has failed to do any remarkable development in the city because he remained busy in corruptions cases. Now, the local residents should come forward to get rid of Congress and support BJP which has a strategic vision to develop the city”.
