Published on:

Redressal of grievances will soon become all the more easy in Punjab. The State Government is all set to bring in a programme of e-redressal of public grievances.

Sources said facilities of an exclusive website and a Mobile app are soon to be added in the grievance redressal mechanism of Punjab.

Energised by the response to its initiative of Public Grievance Cell, Punjab Government is now

coming up with a website and Mobile Application for making the redressal mechanism more efficient and people friendly.

Sources said the Mobile App has been created and will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the first week of January, 2016.

Any kind of grievance or complaint against the police and civil authorities will be registered through this app. Not only registration but one would be able to track the redressal of one’s complaint through this app only.

The website will provide a 24x7 platform to the public to communicate with the Government. People will be able to lodge their complaints and their track would be available on the website all the time.

Punjab Government has been running its Public grievance system through the Toll free number 1905, which was started in May, 2014. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had also made available his own email to the public to lodge their complaints or suggestions that time.

This initiative of toll free number has shown a good response as around 1.20 lac communications have been registered on both these platforms till December, 2015.

Though all the communications are not complaints only, People have used these facilities to send their suggestions and responses on certain issues also.

Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister and Chief of Public grievance cell Rahul Tiwari says that the initiative has got a tremendous response as a large number of suggestions are being received on the toll free number.

Talking on the number of complaints registered on the toll free number, Tiwari said that out of the total communications, around 24 thousand were found to be genuine complaints. He said that most of the complaints get redressed in the stipulated period of one month, barring some exceptional circumstances, where the disputes are between private parties or a number of departments

are involved.

We try not to let the pendency of complaints go beyond 10 percent of the total complaints, said Tiwari.

Confirming the launch of website and Mobile App, he said, “Both the portals are on their final stages of preparation. Once prepared, their trial runs will be conducted for a few days. We are expecting to dedicate both these facilities to the people in the New Year.”
