Dushyant meets Gadkari

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Monday met Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and requested to expedite road development works in the state.

During his meeting in New Delhi, Dushyant discussed various concerns with the Union Minister, including many major road development projects of the State as well as the farmers’ agitation.

While interacting with mediapersons after the meeting, Dushyant said that under the Bharatmala project, three Greenfield Corridors are being constructed in the state, the first from Amritsar to Gujarat, the second from Gurugram to Gujarat and the third and most important Ismailabad (Kurukshetra) to Narnaul.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the State Government had placed a demand for the construction of East-West Corridor in Haryana before the Union Minister and two proposals were sent by the State Government to the Centre in this regard.

Dushyant said that today, he has demanded that these proposals are taken up by NHAI soon. Proposals related to the roads connecting Fazilka to Meerut and Hisar to Rewari were also discussed, he added

In response to a question regarding farmers’ agitation, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Union Agriculture Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs are constantly discussing this matter.

He said that a positive solution is expected soon after the seventh round of meeting between the farmers’ organizations and the Central Government. Dushyant added the Central Government is working in the interest of farmers and the farmer organizations should also take steps that are for the benefit of the agriculture sector as a whole as the farmers are facing losses due to this protest.

Initially, the farmer organizations wanted to include the MSP in writing, and now the Central Government has agreed to it, he said while appealing to the farmers that instead of prolonging the agitation, the farmer organization should end this by holding discussion in the interest of everyone.

Notably, Dushyant led Jannayak Janta Party has been facing criticism within the party for not walking out of the alliance with the BJP in Haryana on the issues of farmers and ‘clinging to power’.

In an alliance, the JJP had extended support to the BJP, which had won 40 seats in the Haryana Assembly polls in 2019, six short of the majority mark.
