Dushyant Chautala enters fray from Uchana Kalana

Published on:

Jannayak Janta Party on Thursday announced names of 35 candidates for the Haryana assembly polls which named  party leader Dushyant Chautala as a candidate from Uchana Kalana segment to take on BJP's sitting MLA Prem Lata.

Dushyant's mother and Dabwali MLA Naina Chautala has been shifted to the Badhra constituency in Charkhi Dadri district, where she will take on BJP incumbent Sukhwinder Sheoran and Congress' Ranbir Mahendra.

If Naina had been fielded from Dabwali, she would have locked horns with Aditya Devilal, a grandson of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal. He has been fielded by the BJP and the JJP's move to shift their candidate appears to have been taken to avoid a split in votes.

Naina's name was announced by the JJP in the fifth list of candidates released by the party on Thursday. Earlier in the day, the party announced 30 candidates.

Dushyant, a former MP from Hisar will take on Prem Lata, who had defeated him from the constituency by a margin of over 7,000 votes in the 2014 assembly polls.

SAD and INLD TIE UP FOR HARYANA POLLS

Days after severing ties with the BJP in Haryana, the Shiromani Akali Dal announced to contest the state assembly polls in alliance with the INLD. The SAD, which is the part of the ruling NDA at the Centre, had snapped ties with the BJP in the state after its lone MLA from Kalanwali Balkaur Singh switched to the saffron party.

SAD had contested the 2014 assembly elections in the state in alliance with the INLD. Their alliance had come to an end in 2017 over the issue of the Sutlej-Yamuna link canal. Akali candidates will file their nomination papers from Kalanwali, Ratia and Guhla Cheeka, said SAD vice-president Daljit Singh Cheema.

SAD was initially looking to forge an alliance with the BJP for the Haryana assembly elections which could not materialise. SAD had taken a strong exception to the induction of Akali MLA Balkaur Singh into BJP fold, terming it "unethical". The SAD had also accused the BJP of backtracking from its commitment of contesting the Haryana assembly polls jointly after "soliciting" its support for the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP RELEASES FINAL LIST OF 12 CANDIDATES

BJP on Wednesday announced the names of the remaining 12 candidates for the Haryana Assembly polls, with the Gurgaon legislator being among four sitting MLAs denied tickets.

The final list also dashed the hopes of minister Rao Narbir Singh, who was denied a ticket from his Badshahpur constituency in Gurgaon district, but was hopeful that the party may adjust him on another seat.

Earlier, when BJP released its first list of 78 candidates, ministers Rao Narbir Singh and Vipul Goel (Faridabad) were among eight sitting legislators being denied a re-nomination.

In the second list, the party has denied ticket to Panipat City MLA Rohita Rewri, in whose place Pramod Viz has been fielded. From Gurgaon, Umesh Aggarwal failed to get a re-nomination and Sudhir Singla got the ticket.  Aggarwal did not share good equations with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

From Kosli in Rewari district, sitting legislator Bikram Singh Yadav has been replaced by Laxman Yadav, while Sunil Musepur replaces sitting legislator Randhir Kapriwas from the Rewari seat.

On the Naraingarh seat, the BJP has fielded Surendar Rana. This Assembly constituency was represented by the BJP''s Nayab Singh Saini who was elected to the Lok Sabha this year from the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency.

The other seven seats are represented by the opposition members. From these seats, the candidates fielded by BJP include three women.

From Ganaur, Nirmal Choudhary will enter the fray, Meena Narwal from Kharkhoda reserved seat, Dudaram Bishnoi from Fatehabad, actress Sonali Phogat from Adampur, Shashiranjan Parmar from Tosham, Shamsher Kharkada from Meham and Chief Minister M L Khattar''s aide Deepak Singla from Palwal.

In the outgoing House, Tosham, Meham, Palwal and Adampur are represented by senior Congress leaders Kiran Choudhary, Anand Singh Dangi, Karan Singh Dalal and Kuldeep Bishnoi.
