Drunken brothers, who were creating a ruckus in their colony, allegedly thrashed the head constable of police, when the cop tried to stop the fight between them.
Sources in the police said that the incident took place at mid-night. Police Control Room (PCR) had received information from the local residents that two brothers were creating ruckus at Sector-25. Following the information, a police team reached on the spot.
Kuldeep Singh, Head Constable, then attempted to stop the scuffle between Ombir and Bintu. However, the brothers who were high on spirit started manhandling Kuldeep and tore his uniform after landing few blows on him.
The accused persons were then tackled by other police officials present at the spot and were arrested for misbehaving with a policeman on duty official, said lakhbir Singh, In-charge, PP-24.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Singh said “I was attacked without any reason while I was on duty. Both the accused were highly drunk and no local resident tried to intervene in the scuffle and save me.”
The accused, Ombir and Bintu, were produced in the district court, on Thursday from where the court sent them to judicial custody for further investigations in the matter, added the official.
