A drop box for tobacco products will be installed at the entrance of all educational institutions in Haryana.
The State Government on Monday directed all educational institutions to place or fix the drop box into which any tobacco product carried by anyone before entering the premises, can be dropped.
This rule will apply to the general public, government officers and officials, said an official spokesman.
He said that the State Government had decided to implement Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003 to ward off their negative effects. The Health Department would be the nodal department for implementation of this rule, said he.
Apart from this, directions have been issued for display of an appropriate signage on the premises of educational institutions or offices under Section 4 of COTPA. A display board should be put up outside educational institutions according to Section 6B of COTPA, 2003, the spokesman added.
