Doctor-turned-politician Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Sunday expressed shock and resentment over the issues pertaining to the appalling attitude of the Centre by denying visa to the patients from Pakistan, who are willing to avail medical facilities of organ transplant in India.
Aam Aadmi Party’s MP from Patiala, Dr Gandhi termed it as a violation of human rights.
Dr Gandhi also condemned another case of a doctor’s alleged misbehaviour and ‘denial’ of treatment to a Kashmiri patient of a particular community at Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
“This attitude of the Centre and the PGI doctor go against the ethics and spirit of medical profession and Bhai Kanhaiya’s humanitarian philosophy of helping the sick irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and nationality, even during conflicts,” he said.
Dr Gandhi demanded that the Central Government should immediately lift all restrictions imposed, at the earliest, and allow access to all Pakistani nationals who want to come to India to avail transplant and other medical facilities.
“In addition, I demanded an impartial inquiry into the alleged unprofessional behaviour of the PGI doctor and appropriate action being initiated against him for violating the model code of conduct, as expected of a medical professional,” he said.
