'Don't be beguiled by baseless Cong propaganda'

Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal on Saturday ridiculed Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice- president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for pretending to be the well wishers of the poor.

Talking to media persons here, he said Congress over the past 66 years had been ruling this country most of the time, on false and hollow slogans. Some elections they won by raising the bogey of “Congress lao garibi hatao” (Bring Congress to power and eradicate poverty).

“It was just to deceive and ditch the poor. The poor of the country went on becoming poorer as the years rolled by and those in power became fabulously rich by looting crores of rupees from the State exchequer and deposited it the foreign banks. A trail of scams rocked the country, but the Congress refused to hold inquiry and punish the guilty,” Dhumal said. The Ministry of Telecommunications headed the list of scammers, but Sonia Gandhi remained a silent spectator despite countrywide indignation and resentment over the evasive attitude of the Government towards mega scams, he added.

He bemoaned that panicked by the Modi wave, a senior Congress leader these days seemed to have lost his mental equilibrium and was making funny statements for holding inquiry and for roping in Modi obviously realising that the end of party was imminent.  “When Congress had to lick the dust in Delhi Assembly elections and even the chief minister, Sheila Dikshit, was defeated, Sonia talked of deep introspection knowing well that the consequence of corruption were self-evident as people could not be befooled for a long time,” the leader of Opposition said.

Dhumal made a passionate call to the people of Himachal Pradesh not be beguiled by the baseless Congress propaganda and come out in large number on May 7 and cast vote for the BJP to make Himachal Congress free and for the dawn of prosperous Himachal under the patronage of Narendra Modi. He advised those still sitting on the fence to abandon the sinking ship of Congress and come to the fold of BJP which held the national interest high.

The former chief minister claimed that the recent Modi rallies in Himachal had turned the tables and the people, particularly the youths, could be seen in the rural areas canvassing for the BJP to get rid of corrupt Congress rule which had brought the country on the brink of bankruptcy.“Modi wave had assumed the shape of tsunami and the BJP was poised to win all the four seat in Himachal Pradesh. Virbhadra Singh and his team should be ready to face a surprise that Mandi seat was no more a cake walk and Rani Pratibha Singh was going to be defeated with a big margin,” Dhumal claimed.
