Dehradun district magistrate Ravinath Raman held a meeting with the nodal officers of Swachchh Bharat Mission on Friday and reviewed the details of the execution of the scheme while giving the necessary direction to achieve the target.
He expressed disappointment over the progress report that came from Vikasnager, Kalsi and Chakrata blocks. Works were sluggish, delaying the progress towards making the district free from open defecation, DM said. He directed the officers concerned to ensure that cent- percent toilet were completed in two months.
Dehradun chief development officer Banshidhar Tiwari was directed to set up toilets under MNREGA scheme in the gram panchayats sans such facilities. However, he added that no such work under MNREGA scheme should be taken up if the gram panchayats are not interested. The department officials were directed to carry out public awareness campaign on the matter with the assistance of Anganwadi workers, ASHA and ANM employees. Others present on the occasion were project director Swajal Suman Kutiyal and other block level officers.
