DlF-Vadra land deals returns to haunt Haryana Congress

The ghost of the alleged shoddy land deals between realty giant DlF and Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra might return to haunt the ruling party in Haryana in the upcoming Assembly elections, as the State BJP has planned to make it a poll issue.

State BJP president Ram Bilas Sharma on Wednesday said that the Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Congress Government in the State has acquired around 72 thousand acres of land from hapless farmers and sold it to property dealers at exuberant prices in its decade long rule.

To gain political mileage from the land deal issue the state BJP has decided to target the ruling Congress party by putting Robert Vadra in the line of fire, while campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections in the state which are due in the month of October. Even during the General-Elections, a war of words broke between the two parties over this issue.

Sharma said, “Out of the total land acquired by the Hooda Government in the state, a large chunk of around 32 thousand acres was doled out to a company owned by Vadra. Our party will not only raise the issue but will take action by staying in the ambit of law.”

The issue of shady land deals was first raised by whistle blower IAS officer Ashok Khemka, when he was posted as the Director General of land Consolidation and land Records-cum-Inspector-General of Registration of the State. He even cancelled the mutation of the land deal between DlF and Vadra in the month of October, 2012. later the IAS officer was transferred and charge-sheeted by the State Government for exceeding his jurisdiction. Even threatening calls were given to him over the phone.

On the other hand the State Government cleared the land deal and gave clean cheat to the parties involved in the land deal. launching a scathing attack on Hooda, State BJP president Sharma said that Hooda Government has also indulged in giving jobs to people belonging to a particular region in the state to strengthen its vote bank. No one in the State is happy with the bad governance meted out by Hooda, he added.

“We are preparing Aarop Patra (allegation paper) to expose the rampant loot conducted under the decade long rule of the Congress in the State,” said Sharma.
