Dissident BJP MlAs in Haryana support Aggarwal

Published on:

A day after Haryana police booked ‘rebel’ BJP MlA Umesh Aggarwal’s family members in a land fraud case, ‘dissident’ MlAs on Wednesday gave their support to Aggarwal even as they volleyed fresh allegations against the Manohar lal Khattar-led State Government in Haryana.

Aggarwal is among over a dozen BJP MlAs who have been airing their grievances against the Chief Minister for the last few months.

The Sonepat police had on Tuesday booked Aggarwal’s two brothers and a nephew along with others allegedly for grabbing land of the complainant in the case. Following the registration of the case, Aggarwal had levelled allegations of ‘political conspiracy’ against him and his family as he had been speaking up against the poor functioning of the State Government.

On Wednesday, BJP MlAs Randhir Singh Kapriwas,  Bimla Chaudhary, Om Prakash Yadav, Bikram Singh Thekedar , Santosh Sarwan lend their support to Aggarwal and held a meeting in Gurugram on the issue.

The MlAs condemned the registration of a case against the family members of Umesh Aggarwal. These MlAs are also among more than a dozen party MlAs who have been taking on their own State Government for neglecting development works and for failure to deliver on the “good governance” promise.

Sources said that while Aggarwal alongwith other dissident MlAs have sought time from central party leaders to register their complaint on the latest development of registration of a case against MlA’s relatives, the ‘rebel’ group is also expected a hold a meeting with State party leadership to resolve the issue amicably.

After the meeting, MlA Umesh Aggarwal, while talking to the mediapersons said that the case against his relatives have been registered unnecessarily ignore the laws. By doing so, the Government is trying to divert people’s mind from issues of corruption and lack of development in Haryana, he said.

The Gurugram MlA further alleged that the State Government is trying to suppress his voice and ignoring the development issues in Haryana as it is indulging in such acts of registration of false cases.

“The state party leadership should listen to our grievances and resolve this issue. The Government should not indulge in political vendetta like this,” said Randhir Singh Kapriwas.

The MlAs, who were present in the meeting, in a joint statement said that they will meet the State leadership to raise the issue. The Government should refrain from indulging in political vendetta. Such acts would lead to disappointment in party workers and also spoil party’s image, they said.

The MlAs added that they will protest against the State Government for the registration of a case against Aggarwal’s family members.

Notably, Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala had on Monday sent out a warning to the 'dissenting' Haryana MlAs, who had been airing their grievances openly for the past few months against the Chief Minister.

However, ‘miffed’ MlAs seemed to have ignored the warnings as their open criticism against the Khattar led State Government has continued in the past two days.

Earlier also, Umesh Aggarwal has put his Government in a tight spot raising a number of issues including Gwal Pahari, pending CM announcements and change in Gurugram master plan. He had also demanded an inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the multi-crore Gwal Pahari scam.

Following Chief Minister’s Gurugram visit on last Saturday to inspect the progress of various road infrastructure projects, Aggarwal had blamed the CM for not informing him about the visit and ignoring elected public representatives.

Even after convening a series of meetings with the ‘miffed’ party MlAs last month, the efforts of central party leadership has not met with success in dousing the rebel trouble in Haryana party unit.
