Stunned over the report of no birth of female child in six villages of Mahendragarh district during last one year, the health authorities have found difference between the ANM register record and Computer Registration System (CRS) of health centers during its enquiry carried out to find out ground reality of the report.
Mahendragarh district has the lowest gender ratio in the state with a figure of 792 girls against 1,000 boys. There are significant numbers of such villages too where the sex ratio is less then even 500. The enquiry has revealed that a significant numbers of female children were born in all six villages- Bhandor, Ganiyaar, Naolayja, Saidalpur, Nivajnagar and Chamdhera— in 2014 and the report was based on CRS pertaining to these villages which registers only those deliveries which are performed in the health centres, said the sources.
The health authorities have also submitted its report to Director General (Health) Haryana who had sought a clarification from it in this regard. “Since all female children of these villages were born at other places instead of their health centres concerned hence the births could not be recorded in CRS which only keeps record of births at its health centre,” Dr Vijay Garg, Mahendragarh Civil Surgeon told The Pioneer.
Garg maintained, “ANM register record is deemed authentic as ANMs keep all information about pregnant women, their health check-up and delivery besides vaccination of new born in their area.” On enquiry of the ANM register, 19 female children in Bhandor, 26 in Ganiyar, 9 in Naolayja, 7 in Saidalpur, 15 in Nivajnagar and 11 were found born in Chamdhera village in last year, said the civil surgeon.
