Directorate of Inspections  would be constituted in Himachal Pradesh soon to conduct sudden checks and inspections in the schools to make certain that the teachers are not  absent and they are  performing their duties with due dedication, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said on Monday.

Addressing a public meeting at Bhumti in Arki Tehsil of district Solan, he said that any teacher found guilty would be immediately dismissed without notice for dereliction of duty.

Presiding over the 70th foundation day of GSSS Bhumti, he distributed prizes to the students who have excelled  in academics and other curricular activities.

The Chief Minister said that teachers had a responsibility more than that a normal Government servant and they should realise that they were entrusted the most important task of building the character and personality development of the students, which was more than a mission for them and not a part of their general duty.

Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government was committed to provide quality education to all children, adding that 994 new schools had been opened or upgraded and 36 new degree colleges had been opened in rural areas of the State during the last three years. Free traveling facility was being provided to students of Government Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas.  Net books/lap-tops were being provided to 10,000 meritorious students of 10th and plus two.

He said that he had written to the PM that adequate funds to be given to Panchayats, Panchayats Samitis and Zila Parishad. The Government of India under a certain policy had made provision of funds only for panchayats, forgetting that all the above were strong pillars of democracy. They should equally disburse adequate finances for development of the panchayat Samitis, Zila Parishad, and Panchayats, he said.
