Senior bureaucrat and Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, Dinesh Malhotra will be in-charge of the Public Relation department during the Assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh.

As the incumbent Director, Public Relations RS Negi proceeded on long leave, Malhotra was given additional charge of the Public Relations department.

Malhotra will be holding the charge of Director, Public Relations for the third time as he had remained on the post twice earlier. The deployment of Malhotra came on directions of Election Commission of India, as the ECI during recent visit to the poll bound state, had directed state government not to detail officers on election duty, who have been on extension after retirement or re-employed.

Negi was given extension for a year before his superannuation last year.  Besides being well versed with the functioning of Public Relations department, Malhotra has a long administrative experience, especially of working in state capital Shimla.

He remained Deputy Commissioner of Shimla between 2013 to 2016 and presently working as Director, Tourism and MD, HPTDC.

During his previous terms as DPR, Malhotra had stressed on improving feature services of the department and quick updation of government related development on media channels.
