Senior BJP leader and former Himachal CM, Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday ridiculed the Congress leaders for what he called their “deceitful and cynical” tirade against corruption with the wicked objective of beguiling the people of the country that Congress wanted to usher in corruption free Government.
He cautioned the people that Congress party which was deeply involved in mega scams and large scale corruption from head to foot was pretending to espouse clean government taking advantage of the fact that public memory was short.
In an exclusive interview with The Pioneer, Dhumal said the most funny feature of the present Congress culture in the country was that if any Congress leader was involved in corruption all the party leaders rush to defend him without going into the merits of the case instead of holding inquiry by SC Judge or the CBI. Ironically Congress leaders of the state lost no time to rush to the Press for defending chief minister Virbhadra Singh as usual.
The BJP leader said the seizure of a diary by the Income-tax department during a raid in the premises of a firm contained positive documentary proof about alleged transfer of money to one “VBS” as consideration for the undue favours showered to the firm when Virbhadra Singh was the Union Steel Minister.
Virbhadra Singh had denied the allegation by merely pretending that he never used the words “VBS” for his name. The Congress High Command also hushed up the matter as it did it in other scams, he alleged.
“The attempt to project anti- corruption image of Congress by Rahul Gandhi was bound to prove a flop a the memories of various scams right from Bofors till today still haunted the minds of people and the emergence of a new party in Delhi was the outcome of the corruption-tarnished image of Congress,” he said.
Dhumal claimed a pro-Modi wave was sweeping across Himachal Pradesh and the rest of the country and the dream of Congress-Mukta Bharat was going to be realised in 2014.
The former CM lamented that question of upper and lower Himachal had again surfaced ever since Virbhadra Singh had taken over the reins of power in the state and started indulging in discrimination in development in the upper and lower areas and officials of a particular belt had been posted on key-posts across the state.
Meanwhile former Transport Minister, Mahender Singh and other BJP MlAs from the district have demanded the resignation of Virbhadra Singh, in view of the fresh allegations of corruption. Complete documentary evidence had been forwarded to the Prime Minister by BJP leader Arun Jaitley and the removal of the tainted Chief Minister was also an acid test for Rahul Gandhi who was regularly boasting of eradicating corruption, the MlAs reiterated.
