Dhindsa 'resignation' sends jitters through SAD-BJP combine

Published on:

At a time when the Punjab Congress unit is embroiled in resignation row, the SAD-BJP combine too was hit by something similar on Sunday. The rumours of Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa resigning from the Cabinet post broke in the morning, followed by explanations by the Minister, his father and senior Akali leader, and the Chief Minister’s Office. Clarifying, Dhindsa’s father Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who lost recent lok Sabha elections by a margin of 2.11 lakh votes to comedian-turned-politician and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Bhagwant Mann, admitted that the Finance Minister had offered resignation owning moral responsibility for his loss but the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal did not accepted the same. The CMO, in its clarification, maintained that the Finance Minister never resigned from his post. Dhindsa, who is currently abroad, stated that the reports of his resignation are baseless and incorrect, and he is performing his responsibilities as the Finance Minister.
